Elvis purchased his second Pink Cadillac, a new 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60. The Cadillac was originally blue with a black roof. Elvis had the Cadillac painted pink by his neighbor Art on Lamar Avenue. Art designed a customised pink color for Elvis which he named “Elvis Rose.” During March 1956 Elvis had the upholstery replaced, the body retouched and roof painted white.
This is the Cadillac Elvis drove and gave to his mother Gladys Presley. Gladys Presley would always proudly point to the Cadillac as ‘her’ car. Gladys never had a drivers license. You can see the car at Graceland at Elvis Presley’s Memphis inside Presley Motors.
Elvis’ first Cadillac was a pink 1954 Fleetwood Series 60. The car provided transport for Elvis and the Blue Moon Boys, but after the failure of a brake lining, it was destroyed in a roadside fire between Hope and Texarkana, Arkansas, on June 5, 1955.
